# Slack

Get your project's email alerts in the Slack channels you choose, and ask Rasket for today's numbers, recent sends and a domain check with `/rasket`, without leaving Slack.

> Coming soon: Rasket for Slack is not switched on yet. This page describes it as it will ship.

## What it does

- **Alerts where your team already looks.** Pick a channel and a frequency for each alert. Nothing is posted until you choose a channel, and never to #general unless you pick it.
- **No floods.** Several alerts inside one window arrive as one message. A busy hour is one post, not fifty.
- **Look-ups for members only.** `/rasket` answers people who are members of your project in Rasket, and only they see the answer.
- **Nothing read from Slack.** Rasket posts messages and lists your public channels. It never reads your conversations.

## Before you start

- **An admin of the Rasket project.** Adding Rasket to Slack and choosing where alerts go are an admin's decisions. No Rasket account yet? Adding from Slack takes you through signing up.
- **Permission to add apps to your Slack workspace.** Some workspaces only allow apps an owner has approved.

## Add Rasket to Slack

Start from Rasket or from Slack. Either way it takes about a minute.

1. In Rasket, open **Settings → Integrations → Slack** and choose **Add to Slack**. From Slack, choose **Add to Slack** on Rasket's page.
2. Slack shows what Rasket asks for. Choose the workspace and allow it.
3. Started from Slack? Sign in to Rasket, or sign up, and pick the project the workspace is for.
4. You land on Settings → Integrations → Slack with **Slack is connected**. One Slack workspace connects to one Rasket project.

## Choose where alerts go

In Settings → Integrations → Slack, each alert has a channel, how often, and an on switch. Choose a public channel, turn the alert on, and press **Save alerts**. Then **Send a test alert** to see one arrive.

| Alert | When it is posted |
| --- | --- |
| Bounce or complaint rate climbs | Your bounce or complaint rate crosses a line Rasket watches, and again when it is back to normal. |
| A domain verifies or stops verifying | A sending domain finishes verifying, fails, or its records stop checking out. |
| A webhook endpoint keeps failing | Rasket turned off a webhook endpoint that kept failing. |
| Quota near the plan's limit | You reach 80% or all of your plan's emails this month, or a line of your spend cap. |
| A campaign finishes sending | A campaign has been handed to every recipient. |
| New mail in a shared Inbox mailbox | Mail arrives in a shared mailbox, such as support@. Never a personal mailbox, and never the message itself. |

**How often** is *Immediately* (at most one message every five minutes), *At most hourly* or *At most daily*. Alerts that come in between two messages are rolled into the next one.

Every alert has **Mute for 24 hours**. Alerts of that kind are skipped for a day; nothing piles up for later.

## Use /rasket

| Command | Answers |
| --- | --- |
| /rasket status | Today's sends, deliveries, bounces and complaints, since midnight UTC. |
| /rasket recent | The last five emails: subject, where each one got to, and when. |
| /rasket domain mail.example.com | Whether the domain is verified, and each of its records. |
| /rasket help | The list of commands. |

The first time you use `/rasket`, Rasket asks you to connect your Rasket account. The link opens Rasket, shows which Slack account it would connect, and works for ten minutes. Only members of the project can connect. Whoever added Rasket to Slack is connected already.

The Rasket app's **Home** tab in Slack shows today's numbers and your recent campaigns once you are connected.

## What Rasket can see and keep

- **What it asks Slack for:** to post messages (`chat:write`), to post in public channels it hasn't joined (`chat:write.public`), the `/rasket` command (`commands`) and the list of public channels for the picker (`channels:read`). Nothing else.
- **What it keeps:** the workspace's name and id, its bot token (encrypted), the channel each alert goes to, and which Slack people are which project members. Alerts are deleted a week after they are posted.
- **What it posts:** names and numbers — a domain, a campaign's name, a rate, a mailbox and a sender's name. Never the content of an email, and never a recipient's address in a channel.

The [privacy policy](https://www.rasket.com/privacy) covers what Rasket does with this data.

## Remove Rasket

In Settings → Integrations → Slack choose **Disconnect**, or remove Rasket in Slack under its app settings. Either way Rasket deletes the token, the alert settings and the connected accounts at once, and posts nothing more.

## Troubleshooting

- **“This workspace is already connected.”** It is connected to another Rasket project. Disconnect it there first.
- **“Rasket isn't in this channel.”** Rasket can post to public channels only. Choose a public channel instead.
- **“This channel was archived.”** The alert stops until you choose another channel.
- **“Rasket isn't set up for this Slack workspace yet.”** Someone added Rasket from Slack and didn't pick a project. An admin of the project can finish from the link in the message.
- **No alerts arrive.** Check the alert is on and has a channel, and send a test alert from Settings.
